June’s Meeting Roundup

The June PC meeting learned that Bloor Homes are starting their public consultation in connection with their development of around 300 homes off Byfield Road towards Byfield and have informed the PC that that have an agreement with Byfield Surgery to build a new medical centre to serve the area.  While a new medical centre would be welcome, the village infrastructure (with the exception of the primary school) will simply not cope in its current state with the volume of traffic & footfall created by this development.  The PC will be running its own consultation, including a public meeting and welcomes all views on this development – it will be developing a set a questions for Bloor Homes that anyone can access to enable themselves to enquire of the developer.  The PC will act dependant on the views of parishioners.

The Chairman has met with the new WNC Cabinet member from Reform, Richard Butler, to demonstrate the shocking state of the main link roads to our village.  While he agrees that the roads are in a poor state, nothing can be promised at this stage due to WNC finances.  PC Councillor Minns is developing a database of problems and will be out and about measuring & recording potholes & other road issues.

Cleaning of the War Memorial in the Churchyard has been arranged, and this should be completed within the next 4 weeks.  A full report on the Woodland Culvert has now been received and while the culvert itself is in good order, some maintenance is required and the river downstream of the culvert needs clearing of debris.

The planned pond project in the wetland area of the Great Central Woodland has been put on hold as the contractor was unable to effectively excavate due to the incredible depth and wetness of the clay in the area.

The PC received its annual internal audit report and will be making several changes, particularly to the information on its website.
