Following the overwhelming objections to the Bloor development proposal expressed at the recent public meetings, the Parish Council will be launching a campaign to persuade the Local Authority (West Northants Council) that planning consent should be refused for a development located outside the village boundary and on high-quality agricultural land. All residents will be contacted for their opinions in due course.
Other matters considered at the Parish Council meeting included several minor planning applications that were supported, a review of the Neighbourhood Plan, a report on grass cutting on the Woodford Meadows estate, and an update on community events — including the Regatta to be held this Saturday, the Village Show in September, and a Christmas Fair in December. Costs associated with tree surgery work in the churchyard, which have been passed to the Church Warden, were reviewed, and permission was given for work on public land to alleviate flooding on Lacemaker Crescent.
Volunteers from the Daventry firm Cummins were thanked for their work clearing a channel in the River Cherwell, south of the woodland culvert, enabling water to flow more effectively and lowering the water level in the culvert.
