Woodford cum Membris Parish Council has formally objected to planning application 2026/2896/MAO.
The application proposes up to 50 dwellings on Pool Farm Field, Farndon Road, Woodford Halse, together with associated infrastructure, open space, car parking and flood improvement works.
Why Has the Parish Council Objected?
The Parish Council's formal objection raises a number of concerns, including:
- Development outside the established village confines
- Flood risk and surface-water drainage
- The capacity and safety of local roads
- Additional traffic through Woodford Halse and towards Byfield
- Limited public transport and increased reliance on private cars
- Pressure on healthcare, education and other local infrastructure
- The impact on the character and landscape of the village
- Loss of wildlife habitat and biodiversity
- Whether there is a demonstrated local housing need for this development
The Parish Council has requested that the application be refused and that appropriate up-to-date evidence is obtained regarding highways, education, healthcare, drainage, wastewater and ecology before the application is determined.
