Council Participation
Gary was first elected to the Parish Council in May 2013, as a representative of the many small businesses within the village.
That winter he was catapulted into looking after the village’s WOW magazine (What’s On in Woodford), at the time a high-gloss item with advertising to cover its costs and reliant upon 50+ villagers to distribute it around the village.
This continued until Christmas 2016 when WOW became the current, locally produced newsletter with the parish council funding its distribution.
Gary presented at a Public Meeting in December 2017, which first promoted a Community-run village library as part of a Woodford Community Hub, also including the village archive and a cafe, with possibilities for community transport and a post office.
This meeting also promoted the benefits and costs of having our own village PCSO. These continue to date.
Career History
Gary spent 20 years in an IT career, designing systems for rugged hand-held computers made in Coventry.
In 2005 a major career change and another degree from the University of Northampton permitted his opening of a Podiatry practice in the village. This supported the annual Village Regatta, stymied by more recent Covid restrictions.
Other Information and Interests
Gary is in a civil partnership with commitments to St Nicholas church in Eydon and support for St Mary’s church in Woodford Halse. He has had significant involvement with the Eydon Players amateur dramatics group over the past twenty years.
